After being signed as an exclusive model for “CanCam,” the number one selling women’s fashion magazine in Japan, Kyoko Hasegawa started working seriously as a model and became the face of this magazine.
In 2000, she started working seriously as an actress and in 2003, played the heroine in “Bokudake no Madonna (My Only Madonna)” in the Fuji TV Monday 9 PM time slot, known as the highest rated slot among Japanese dramas. The “actress Kyoko Hasegawa” became a household name across Japan.
In 2004, Hasegawa ranked top for number of commercial contracts. She appeared in ads for 11 products by 10 major companies, making her the TV commercial queen of the year.
In 2005, she had a leading role in the Korea / Hong Kong / Japan trilogy titled “Three… Extremes: Box”. This was her film debut, in a segment directed by Takashi Miike, who is garnering attention internationally.
In 2006, Hasegawa had her first leading role in a drama series with “Oishii Propose (A Delicious Proposal)”. In the same year, her acting in “Shusen Kinen Tokubetsu Drama: Himeyuritai to Onaji Senka wo Ikita Shojo no Kiroku - Saigo no Nightingale (War-end Anniversary Drama Special: Memories of a young girl who lived through the same war as the Star Lily Corps - the Last Nightingale)” was described to be superb.
